As always, I took a fair amount of time choosing the right accommodation for the 5 nights I spent on Milos at the beginning of September. My trip was 19 days in total, so I was trying to stick to a reasonable budget while still getting a good standard of hotel, or, in this case, studio. Location is always important: not too far from restaurants or the ferry port, but not so central that it comes at a premium cost or the risk of excessive noise at night.

Venus de Milo Studios ticked all these boxes: it’s under €50 per night, less than 10 minutes walk from central Adamas, 5 minutes from some good tavernas, and – as it turned out – was exceptionally clean, comfortable and modern.

Prior to arriving, I’d been in contact with the owner Manolis (via Booking.com) to arrange a transfer from Milos airport. He was very helpful and, sure enough, a taxi driver was waiting for me at the airport and dropped me right at the door of the studios. He was also happy for me to check out later than advertised, giving me a few extra hours at the beach before my afternoon ferry.

The accommodation itself isn’t luxurious – it looks more functional than beautiful – but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. A decent double bed, storage, fridge, small hob, basic utensils and quite a nice bathroom. The air conditioning was effective and not too loud and I was never disturbed by noise from neighbouring rooms or properties.

Overall, I couldn’t fault the experience and would gladly stay here again on my next visit to Milos.
