Review Rating: 4.5/5

Date of Visit: June/July 2022

Following a very brief 2-night stay on Paros back in 2017, I finally managed to return in 2022 for a proper visit, spending two weeks here so I could explore the island fully.

Deciding whether to stay close to the port and be based in Parikia, or opt for the popular tourist town of Naousa, was a tough choice. I usually prefer to be in the port town to make transfers more convenient (and cheaper/free), but with two weeks here I could easily justify staying further away. Ultimately, though, Parikia won me over as it’s also where the main bus station is located and I knew from my previous visit that there were some nice beaches within walking distance.

Having narrowed it down to Parikia, it took me a while to settle on Oasis Hotel. Initially, I wanted somewhere with a pool that wasn’t too far from the port or town centre. These seemed to be in short supply and expensive so I had to decide which was more important: location or pool. With several nice beaches on hand, the location factor won me over and Oasis Hotel is ideally situated right opposite the port and close to the bus station. It’s also near lots of tavernas, cafes and shops.

Oasis Hotel has a great central location and a nice cafe/restaurant with outdoor seating

Knowing Paros was a popular destination, I was a bit concerned that Oasis Hotel might be too central and feel crowded. It does get busy outside during the day, especially when ferries are arriving or departing, but actually, this just gives it some atmosphere and never felt overwhelming. The rooms are also well soundproofed as I never noticed any street noise once I was inside.

The reception staff are great, very friendly and always on hand to greet you and give advice on places to go. Check-in/out was quick and efficient. My room was on the first floor with a narrow balcony overlooking the bank but with a partial front/sea view. The room was well furnished and looked recently renovated. It wasn’t huge and may have felt a bit cramped with two people sharing, but for me on my own it was fine.

The bathroom was slightly dated compared to the room and I suspect it wasn’t redecorated when the room was updated, but it was clean and functional. Rooms were serviced daily and bedding/towels were changed every 3 days or on request.

A friend of mine also stayed at the hotel for a week. Her room was on the top floor and had a much larger balcony with a great view overlooking the port. The room was slightly larger, but in most respects was identical to mine.

The rooftop bar and restaurant has one of the best views in Parikia but at a steep price

Upon arrival, I was given a voucher for a free drink at their rooftop bar and restaurant, Salair. The views are incredible and the free drink was a nice touch, however, it only covers soft drinks and the cocktail/food prices are very high.

Overall, I had a great stay at Oasis Hotel. The location was every bit as good as I’d hoped and for what I paid, it felt like good value as well. I would definitely recommend it and would consider staying here again on my next visit.
