I woke up early, still feeling under the weather. I’d planned to explore more of the island today, maybe even rent a quad bike for an adventure, but that idea quickly went out the window—I’d need a miracle recovery for that! I dragged myself to breakfast, though I could only manage a slice of bread and some orange juice before heading back to my room to rest a bit longer.

After some ibuprofen and a little downtime, I started to feel a touch better. Determined not to waste the entire day, I got ready and headed out to the beach right in front of the hotel. I found a cosy sun lounger in the shade, settled in with my book, and let some relaxing music carry me through the afternoon. Later, I strolled to the hotel bar, ordered a lemonade, and spent some time under the shade, making notes for my blog and sifting through the photos I’d taken the night before.

The Alkyoni Beach Hotel is towards the bottom end of St. George’s Beach, the main beach for Naxos town. It’s pretty quiet down this end and there’s plenty of space to lay out on the sand.

Today, my friends from the Naxos ferry were off to Paros—the next stop on my itinerary, too, so I’ll be meeting up with them again tomorrow. With the evening to myself, I decided to make the most of it and set out to explore the Venetian Kastro in Naxos Town. The castle offered stunning views of the town and coastline, perfect for some late-afternoon photos. On my way down, I got a craving for something sweet, so I grabbed a chocolate crêpe with fresh strawberries—a little treat to end the day.

View of the Kastro.

The streets around the Kastro are steep and narrow, but very pretty.

Obligatory photo of my tasty crêpe!

Back at the hotel, I packed up my things for an early departure tomorrow. I decided on an earlier ferry to Paros so I could catch up with my friends in time for our planned excursion to Antiparos. Here’s to hoping tomorrow brings a bit more energy and a fresh start on a new island!
