Review Rating: 4/5

Date of Visit: September 2020

My friend and I had originally planned to stay at Andros Holiday Hotel in Gavrio, but due to COVID-19, they chose not to open this season and instead relocated us to their sister hotel, the Mare Vista in Batsi. That said, Batsi is a good location, being slightly more central (very slightly) and having a reasonable selection of restaurants etc.

Check-in was fast and they were nice enough to give me a room adjacent to my friend’s even though we had booked separately. The room itself was huge, basically a studio with a lounge, kitchen area, large balcony and bedroom. The decor, both in the rooms and in the communal areas, is a bit dated though and I would say it could do with a bit of renovation really.

Location-wise, to drive to the hotel you have to go past it, down a hill and then up a pretty steep road to get to the car park that is underneath the hotel. It’s set on a hillside, so there are a few places where you have to go up or down steps to get about, particularly if you want to walk into Batsi of an evening.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the staff really were great. Breakfast was decent and they had a pool table which came in handy one morning when it was raining. The pool is okay, though due to its location does get shaded by the hotel late afternoon so doesn’t make for ideal sunbathing and seems like a bit of a design flaw to me.
