Part of the ‘Small Cyclades’ group of islands including Koufonissi, Iraklia and Schinoussa, Donoussa is one of the smallest Greek islands. Located between Naxos and Amorgos, it’s an ideal island-hopping stop, popular with day-trippers and those looking for a more relaxed short-stay destination.
Donoussa Chora (also known as Stavros) – the island’s only real resort – is located at the ferry port on the southwestern corner. Here you’ll find a small yet sufficient selection of accommodation, bars, shops and tavernas.
The highlights of Donoussa are its beaches, most of which are accessible on foot from Chora. Kedros beach, one of the best on the island, is also a popular free camping spot and lies just a 20-minute walk from the main town.
